What is the scheme of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana?
The main objective of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme is to facilitate the process of buying a home for the urban poor and the weaker sections of the society through EMI at a reasonable rate of interest and at a comparatively lower subsidized loan than the commercial ones.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-U) was launched on 25 June 2015, a flagship mission of the Government of India being implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The mission addresses the urban housing deficit among EWS/LIG by including slum dwellers and ensuring a durable house to all eligible urban households in the MIG category by 2022.
